Previously, Aallyah covered rural affairs for Stateline and reported on education and social justice issues for Mississippi Today. The Mississippi Delta native is 2025 Obama Foundation USA Leader, 2025 IRE Chauncey Bailey Journalist of Color Investigative Reporting Fellow, and 2022 Maynard 200 Fellow.
